02/16/24 Update

Good morning, folks; if you check out the download page today, you'll see that it looks a bit different. I spent some time gathering and cropping screenshots, filling out the description and uploading the most recent bug fix update to kinda beef up the offering. I hid the previous versions because I don't intend to update those which had music and I'd rather people not get invested in a fork that isn't going anywhere, but I'm not deleting them. I still have those files, so if someone just really wants the version with the music, I might be able to send it your way.

Since I'm here, I think I'll explain something that I revealed near the start of the page description: Manhattan's Fallout is set in 2107. The actual story of Fallout does not change in any drastic way, I legitimately just pushed the Fallout games back by around 50 years. I did not factor Fallout 76 into that because it's so disconnected from everything else, and I did not push the entire lore timeline backwards. I made this change for one big reason: to place more emphasis on the characters and the lives that were changed by the bombs.

By the time of the original Fallout, the Great War was obviously a known fact, but the world had kind of accepted the new normal. Life had acclimated - it was brutal, but it became commonplace. By 2107, the world had indeed moved on, but there were still people living (not just ghouls) who were there when the bombs fell. People who were born in the post-nuclear wastes, or those who were too young to remember life before devastation. Setting the game decades earlier makes it much easier for me to tell stories that hone in on that loss, and allows a more nuanced comparison between the Old World and the New World that goes beyond what we've already seen.

I don't know when the next update will be, but I appreciate you reading this far. Thank you, and have a good day.
